2018 NHA CLUB COMPETITION UMPIRES

Thank you to those of our Senior Umpires and to those umpires who came along to the Umpire pre-season briefs. Whilst not great numbers at these, for those of you who did come, I am sure they were beneficial and have helped either introduce you to umpiring or prepared you for the upcoming season.

For those of you who don’t know, NHA have recently formed an Umpire’s Committee made up of some of our Senior and up and coming umpires, as well as myself from NHA. We hope by establishing this committee we can provide and establish a clearer pathway for our umpires, offer mentoring support, upskill our umpires at all levels, and create a more positive culture and environment for our umpires which we hope will ensure you all have positive experiences. This is a work in progress, but something we are keen to support.

If you do not have one of the new yellow NHA Umpire shirts, can you let me know so we can organise getting you one. For our new umpires who will be used in our Junior Programme Mini Sticks and Kiwi Sticks games, this doesn’t start till 10 May.

General notes:
• The Umpires Room underneath the pavilion is for you all to enjoy and use. Please look after it. We are currently working on removing the freezer and isopropyl alcohol from here, and sourcing a place for you to secure your valuables in if required whilst you umpire. This should be all sorted by next week.
• I will ensure the relevant weeks draw is in the dugout along with the timing formats for each grade for your reference.
• Division 1 Men and Division 1-2 Womens grades – Note: You need to give teams a 90 second warning prior to the start of the game and new quarter. Time will start, and play may commence even if the opposition are not ready or on the field. Teams have been warned.
• Please ensure you fill out the scorecards properly especially in regards to any cards given, and ensure you sign it!
