2019 Capital and Wellington U18s

Following an outstanding 2018 season that saw 2x golds and 1x bronze from our Wellington/Capital U18 teams we are excited to open registrations to trial for this year.

In line with the Athlete Selection Policy all players that are interested in playing in the Wellington and Capital U18 teams at the 2019 National Tournaments must complete an online registration form and attend trials. Any athletes unable to attend trials must formally write to Capital Performance Manager Dane Lett well in advance of trials – dane@capitalhockey.org.nz
This year the trials for Wellington and Capital U18 teams will be combined as one, any athletes interested in playing representative hockey at either Association or Regional level must register and attend trials. A wider squad will be named after trials of which both final teams will come from.

A timeline for the selection is as follows:
February 11th 2019:         Player registration open
March 11th 2019:              Registration close
March 21st 2019:              Last day for payment of trial fee
March 23/24th March 2018:  Trials – NHS, Wellington
                                                      Saturday 10-3pm
                                                      Sunday 10-1pm
March 29th 2019:              Squad named by
July 7-13th 2019:               National Regional Tournament (Wellington) 
July 8-13th 2019:               National Association Tournament (Men – Pukekohe, Women – Timaru)

 
Trials will include fitness testing, skill assessment, and match play.
 
As in recent years there is a cost associated which covers the cost to run trials (out of town players travel, turf etc)
The exact cost will be confirmed and invoiced closer to the time when we can understand the true costs that will be incurred – we estimate this to be $30-40 per player and will do our best to keep that to a minimum. South Island players travel will be subsidised.  
We will endeavour to support South Island players finding billets for the Saturday night and also with transport to and from the airport if they require it. Note: we can do our best to support this but make no certainties.
