HOCKEY NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATIONS NEWS

AN UPDATE FOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATIONS
Happy New Year! Every second Monday we will send out an association Newsletter that contains key information that Hockey New Zealand needs to communicate with you and your members.   This is one of Hockey New Zealand’s main tools which we will be using to communicate important messaging to Associations for their information and action. If we have missed any of your staff from this email then please let us know and we will make sure they are added to our database.
We are only a week out from the FIH Hockey Pro League Season 2, make sure that you are there to be part of all the live-action which will see the return of some New Zealand Hockey Legends in Kayla Whitelock, Gemma McCaw, Simon Child and Steve Edwards.    Hockey New Zealand is also running a ticket promotion until Wednesday which will see every ticket purchased go in the draw for a VIP upgrade. Please share across all your channels this information with your members.

Balance is Better Regional Forums
Aligned with the Keep up with the Play initiative where Hockey NZ along with 4 other major participation NSO’s and Sport NZ publicly made a statement of intent that sport must change to keep our young people involved in sport, it has been decided to hold a roadshow to help connect and inform at the community level.

Tuesday 25th Feb ‘Keep up with the Play’ campaign will be launched

Many of you have begun or are about to begin change in what is offered to our participants in and around the U13/U15 space. Through recent conversations, the roadshow should be able to provide an opportunity to support your efforts here and get some key community stakeholders (for and against) to be part of the wider conversation.

What we know so far; We will be offering all 14 RST regions the opportunity to host a BisB Roadshow between March and early May We are going to try to schedule the larger 6 regions (Otago, Chch, Wellington, Waikato, BOP, Auckland) while the campaign is running, the others afterwards. RSTs will book a venue and arrange the registration process, attract other stakeholders Sport NZ organise the approach to the evening/content – Background, BisB evidence, momentum story
What does Sport NZ need from us; We would like an NSO representative from 1 of the 5 sports at each of the venues. We will need you to ensure our RSO leaders are available to support the forum at each venue to: Share what they are doing regionally (be part of a panel) Ensure they promote and get their membership in the room We have gone to the RST’s to confirm dates to host, we will have the dates confirmed hopefully before Xmas and will let you know. Sport NZ will then be in contact re next steps and support we need from you / RSO’s for each forum in January
