2022 NHA VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH-(JULY) JAN WILSON

NHA would like to recognize JAN WILSON as NHA Volunteer of the Month – (July).

Jan is an inaugural part of the Nelson Hockey Association and puts in a large number of unseen hours as well as time on the turf. Jan  has been allocating the officials and umpiring our NHA Club Competition games Saturdays and Sundays for a number of years. Jan not only umpires the club games, she also volunteers to umpire tournaments such as the Gladstone tournament, Town vs Country games (Mark Wilkens Trophy), secondary school tournaments, college games and assists Hockey NZ officials during tournaments we host such as the U18 Vantage National Tournament Nelson Hockey hosted in July.

Jan also has managed the Senior A women this season winning the Pope Shield.

Jan also mentors the NHA Div.4 umpires every Friday afternoon, passing on to them all her knowledge and experience of this important area of the game. Jan has been mentoring them through the past years and she found a way of keeping our young officials motivated to continue to grow and develop their skills and confidence looking for their future pathways in the next stages of their development. Jan’s guidance in this space is extremely important for their future development.

NHA has presented Jan a GO HOCKEY Voucher in recognition of her important contribution to our Association through managing, mentoring, her contributions to the umpire allocations and all the hours she spends on turf officiating games.
