Kia ora tātou and welcome to the April edition of Inner Circle – bringing you news and views on everything hockey.In this month’s edition, it’s all about the new Sentinel Homes North v South series starting on Saturday and two of our new Vantage Black Sticks who will feature in that series – Anna Crowley and Sam Hiha. See the Vantage Black Sticks players in action in the Sentinel Homes North v South series this weekend, in what will be one of their last appearances at home before they head to the Tokyo Olympics.The series will be played at St Paul’s Collegiate in Hamilton on Saturday, Sunday and next Tuesday and is FREE to attend. Matches will also be broadcast on Sky Sport NEXT and Sky Sport 9. He’d loved to have been able to share the news with his grandmother and legend of the game Margaret Hiha who passed away just months before. READ THE FULL STORY The inaugural New Zealand Heritage Hockey Tournament was a huge success with a thrilling men’s final wrapping up the Easter event.NZ Indians won the men’s title 3-2 in a shootout against the NZ Development side after the scores were locked at 3-3 at fulltime. In the women’s competition, NZ Maori claimed the title with a 2-1 victory over NZ Development. Congratulations to Scott Woolf, Ethan Hohneck, Suresh Wallabh, Kevin Fraser and Brett Leaver for bringing Maori, Indian and Pasifika hockey teams together in a celebration of their heritages and setting up a great platform for future events. Hockey NZ is about to launch a new Online Learning Portal next week.The revamped portal will provide coaches with free access to lessons and resources, and content will continue to grow over time.
