OLYMPIC HOCKEY SPECIAL: Must-win match for Black Sticks men tonight, women go down 1-0 to Hockeyroos

12:30 PM  |  SKY SPORT 8 (Tokyo 6)     MEN’S POOL   The Black Sticks sit mid-table – equal on four points with Spain and Argentina, all chasing the last two play-off spots.   MEN’S POOL STANDINGS     WOMEN’S POOL   The Kiwis have dropped to third and will need points from their final pool match to be sure of a quarterfinal.   WOMEN’S POOL STANDINGS       For one of these teams it could be their last game Black Sticks defender Kane Russell says there will be no lack of urgency in tonight’s must-win final pool match with defending Olympic champions Argentina.   The Kiwis, who are third-equal on the table with Spain and Argentina, need to beat the South Americans to secure a quarterfinals spot and not have to rely on other results going their way.   READ THE FULL STORY One goal separates trans-Tasman rivals In another close trans-Tasman battle between the Black Sticks women and the Hockeyroos, a solitary third quarter goal for Australia was the difference in Tokyo early this morning.   After four draws and two Australian victories in recent clashes between the two sides, the Hockeyroos took the three points today with a 1-0 victory to remain unbeaten at the top of Pool B.   READ THE FULL STORY HOW TO WATCH THE OLYMPIC HOCKEY ACTION All New Zealand’s hockey matches in Tokyo will be live on one of Sky Sport’s 12 Olympic channels, and many of the games can also be watched free-to-air on TVNZ.
