CARTERTON OCT 1st-06th

Quick Match reports

Monday Game 1 was against North harbour
First game out and Harbour started really strong. NH scored within the first 5 minutes to take the lead. Nelson fought hard and Caitlin Clementson was strong in the middle doing great passes out to her inners where Jessica Davidson picked up a ball took on two of their defenders to score. Unfortunately our defenders where not strong enough to hold Harbour out and they scored 2 more before half time.
The second half saw our girls struggling and we conceded another goal. Jemma Mead saved some amazing goals and fought hard to keep the score down. Kate Inglis did some amazing running on the wing and her tackling was super. Ruby Campbell showed some fierce determination and this could be seen out on the turf today. Final score was 4-1 to North Harbour.

Tuesday Game 2 against South Canterbury
South Canterbury came out firing and after the loss from the day before many girls were struggling under the pressures of a very strong South Canterbury team.
Lucia Stallard remained calm in the back and her stability with the assistance of Jess helped prevent more goals. Karishma Patel popped a knee in the first 2 minutes of the first half so was unable to return to the turf until the second half where she was strong and determined but the forwards failed to put the ball in the back of the net. Caitlin was strong in the middle with assistance from Kiera Inglis and Kate Bryant working hard on the wings. Unfortunately we lost 4-0.

Day 3 Nelson VS North Otago

Nelson struck quickly and kept the opposition on their toes for the majority of the game. Ruby Campbell was tenacious on the left wing and with the support of Demi Mant, managed to score the first goal followed shortly by a second. Jemma Hammett used her speed and agility to score her first goal for the tournament and our third for the game. While Nelson, reeling from the 3 goals in a short space of time, managed to settle and played as a team. The trio on the right Holly Melville, Jemma Hammett and Jess Davidson saw a strong combination fighting for the fourth goal being scored by Jess Davidson. The girls continued to hold their ground with Caitlin strong in the middle until just before the end of the first half, when Jemma managed to sneak another one in off a penalty corner. Half time saw Nelson 5-0 up. The second half was a quick start with a penalty corner being converted by Jess. Lucy Tucker worked hard on the wing and the team combination resulted in Demi who scored her first goal of the tournament shortly after that. The rest of the game resulted in no goals being scored. Nelson were very excited to take a 7-0 win.
