2021 to be part of the fun of Golden Oldies Hockey and experience this
fabulous city.
There are many sides
to Melbourne. It’s serious yet playful, quiet yet dramatic,
sport-obsessed yet in love with the creative industries. Melbourne is a
city that is constantly evolving, improving and changing, every day and
all year round. And it will be an amazing host for the next Golden Oldies World Hockey Festival in 2021. Every participant will have the chance to explore laneways, bars, art spaces, restaurants and boutiques. And of course you’ll enjoy all the on-field fun and off-field socialising that Golden Oldies is famous for. All games will be played on international standard synthetic fields and the facilities will be second to none. | Introducing our host clubs and facilities The 2021 Golden Oldies Hockey Festival will be played entirely on artificial pitches at Essendon Hockey Club, Footscray Hockey Club and the State Netball & Hockey Centre. Established in 1926, Essendon Hockey Club has facilities that include two sand based hockey pitches, located less than 10 minutes from the Melbourne Central Business District. Footscray Hockey Club has operated continuously for 85 years. FHC’s facilities at McIvor Reserve, Yarraville are regarded as the best club level hockey facilities in Australia. Featuring two synthetic turf fields (both wet/dry hybrids, one with a water cannon irrigation system), the Club also has an outdoor artificial grass specialist training area that is the size of, and marked as, an ‘indoor’ court. The world-class State Netball & Hockey Centre is currently undergoing a $62 million dollar upgrade. All venues will have full hospitality, food, beverage and entertainment. |
| Register as an individual or part team Over the years we have had many instances of individuals or a small number of players meeting at a Golden Oldies Festival and forming a team that lasts for years and many Festivals. Register yourself for Melbourne and we’ll find you a team! |

Know before you go St Kilda – Party central for 2021 St. Kilda is Melbourne’s iconic seaside suburb and is just a short tram ride (6km) away from the CBD. Featuring several attractions including the Victorian-styled fairground, Luna Park, St. Kilda Sea Baths and the shopping and restaurant strips of Acland and Fitzroy Streets, St. Kilda is a popular base for many travelers, particularly during the summer months. Once a desirable suburb for Melbourne’s elite in Victorian and Edwardian times, St. Kilda has a fascinating history and still features many of its original mansions and iconic attractions today. We will feature more of what Melbourne has to offer in each newsletter. |
