HNZ-ASSOCIATION NEWS ( 21/09)

Hockey New Zealand   AN UPDATE FOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATIONS   This weeks’ Association Newsletter includes information around the National Partnership agreement survey, community coaching hub resources and much more.    Please make sure to let matthew.williams@hockeynz.co.nz if anyone from your Association is not receiving our fortnightly Association News Correspondence.    NATIONAL PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT SURVEY   Hockey New Zealand is working towards a new approach to replace the current affiliation model with the objective of implementing a formal partnership approach between Associations and HNZ, that aligns our collective effort towards our sports strategic priorities.   Association input into this project is key and therefore it would be appreciated if you are able to participate in this survey that will help start to shape the future of the National Partnership Agreement. We are looking for several perspectives within Associations and with this in mind, please feel free to share the survey with staff and Board members.   All responses are anonymous.   If you have any queries or problems accessing the survey, please contact Rachel (Rachel.minton-smith@hockeynz.co.nz)     CLICK HERE TO ACCESS THE SURVEY   COMMUNITY COACHING RESOURCE HUB UPDATE   Since launching in June 2020, the Coaching Hub has received a positive response from the hockey community. A key to this has been the quality of resources developed in collaboration with our community coaching leaders.

If you have any amazing stories to share and would like support in getting these filmed or written please contact Hockey New Zealand’s Media and Communication Manager Matthew Williams on matthew.williams@hockeynz.co.nz or 022 063 5705.

For capturing Small Sticks content, you have two options. You can contact Hockey New Zealand’s Media Manager to find out if he can get to your sessions (there are some restrictions with this option due to current travel issues and costs). The second option is for you to capture the content yourselves. We have put together the attached tips and guidelines to assist with this.
We would like to receive imagery that shows off the heart and soul of the Small Sticks programme. This is looking at our Junior competition but also importantly the in-schools delivery. When capturing content please consider imagery that portrays enjoyment, comradery, having a go – all elements that capture the essence of this program and will entice more people to get involved.     CLICK HERE FOR THE GUIDELINES AND FURTHER INFORMATION   COMMUNITY HOCKEY LEADERS CATCH UP   During the various levels of lockdown in NZ’s response to the COVID pandemic, the community hockey leaders, (CHM’s, RDM’s, RDO’s) have been meeting fortnightly in order to stay informed, connected and to support each other through a time of uncertainty. This was a variation on the original meeting schedule, which was once a month. Recently, we have been discussing the purpose and frequency of the Community Hockey Leaders Catch Up.     CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS AROUND HOW YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE SUCCESS OF THE CATCH UP   MICROSOFT TEAMS FOR ASSOCIATION LEADERS   Following from the 9th September Association Leaders meeting and discussions around the Tū Manawa fund, we have endeavoured to make several spaces on the Association Leaders Team on Microsoft Teams to allow Associations to share resources, files, templates and also to facilitate discussion threads and collaboration.     CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION TO ACCESS   RDP & CHM VARIANCE LETTERS   Due to COVID-19, both the Regional Development Programme and Community Hockey Manager funding was significantly impacted, due to disruptions to funding streams, in particular gaming trust funding. As a result, HNZ was only able to commit to paying Instalment one of RDP and January-March instalments of CHM.
To reflect this variance and for your (and HNZ’s) records, we issued variance letters on the 6th August outlining these changes to all Associations receiving these funds. For audit purposes at both ends, we asked Associations to reply via return email confirming receipt. So far we have only received eleven responses, so we would ask you to check you have received the email and if you have not already, reply to Rachel via email (rachel.minton-smith@hockeynz) at your earliest convenience, that would be much appreciated.   TANIA DALTON FOUNDATION – SCHOLARSHIP   The Tania Dalton Foundation, created in honour of the sporting legend whose presence would fill the room, has been established to make a meaningful impact on the lives of budding young kiwis, guiding them to lead their biggest life – as Tania did.

The scholarships aims to provide support to young women from all kinds of circumstances and at different stages of their development, to unlock their talent and enable them to live their biggest life with sport as their guide.

Included in the criteria is the ability to demonstrate a significant level of financial and/or circumstantial hardship. Hockey has yet to have a young female granted a TDF Scholarship so it would be great to see this change!

If you know of someone in your Association that meets the criteria please pass on this information and encourage an application.     CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP     CLICK HERE FOR THE APPLICATION FORM   TAURANGA HOCKEY CENTENARY   Tauranga Hockey celebrates 100 years as an association in 2020. From those crazed sideline bullies, and those who live vicariously through their kids to the extent they even attach their own self-esteem to how their kids perform.   While hopefully, this movement can curb that extreme poor behaviour, BeSportive.Kiwi is for the vast majority of sports parents and coaches who just need some helpful advice (with a bit of ‘corrective behaviour’ along the way!) to better navigate our young athletes through their rollercoaster youth sports journey – and foster a lifetime love of playing sport.   Could we please encourage you to share this campaign with your communities.      CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE CAMPAIGN AND VIDEO   HOCKEY NEW ZEALAND GALLERIES   Please let your community know that we are starting to put a lot of the 2020 Community Hockey images on our website now.
