This initiative is aimed at coaches working with secondary school age players.   There will be posts on the Hockey NZ Facebook page in the coming weeks to remind coaches to apply and a flyer you can download on the link below to assist with sharing this with your coaches. Applications for the programme close on Monday 30th November at 5pm.     CLICK HERE FOR THE COACHING FOR IMPACT FLYER TO SHARE   SPORT NEW ZEALAND SECTOR UPDATE   The link is a sector update from Sport New Zealand. It includes an opportunity for Associations to provide feedback. The information is for your use within Associations.    So far, 2020 has been a full year and there is no sign of that slowing as we move closer to year-end. Conscious of how busy the sector is, we want to bring to your attention up front, two important surveys going live this week. Both surveys rely on sector-wide input and are key pieces of work which will inform the future of our play, active recreation and sport sector.     CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE UPDATE   SMALL STICKS CONTENT CAPTURE SUPPORT NEEDED   As part of growing hockey throughout the country, Hockey NZ would love to document some great imagery and stories of ‘Small Sticks’ delivery in your communities. If you have any amazing stories to share and would like support in getting these filmed or written please contact Hockey New Zealand’s Media and Communication Manager Matthew Williams on matthew.williams@hockeynz.co.nz or 022 063 5705.

For capturing Small Sticks content, you have two options. You can contact Hockey New Zealand’s Media Manager to find out if he can get to your sessions (there are some restrictions with this option due to current travel issues and costs). The second option is for you to capture the content yourselves. We have put together the attached tips and guidelines to assist with this.
We would like to receive imagery that shows off the heart and soul of the Small Sticks programme. This is looking at our Junior competition but also importantly the in-schools delivery. When capturing content please consider imagery that portrays enjoyment, comradery, having a go – all elements that capture the essence of this program and will entice more people to get involved.     CLICK HERE FOR THE GUIDELINES AND FURTHER INFORMATION   SMALL STICKS KIT SUBSIDY   This is to follow up a previous communication to Associations that Hockey New Zealand no longer has funding available to support any new Small Sticks kit subsidies for the rest of 2020.   Along with yourselves, we have been financially hit due to the impact of covid-19 and whilst to date we have been able to shift things around internally this has now been exhausted. While the subsidy is no longer available kits are still able to be ordered as normal but at a full cost which I appreciate may be a challenge. We are currently working through what 2021 will look like and will communicate details as they become clear.   I really want to acknowledge and thank you all for the huge amount of effort committed to the Small Sticks programme over what has been an exceptionally challenging year. For many, I hope as the winter season comes to a close you are all able to take some time to refresh and look after your well-being.   For any questions please contact Tama Jones.   FOLLOW US ON LINKEDIN   Keep up with the latest insights, business information and organisational developments from Hockey New Zealand, by following us on LinkedIn.
