COACH DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES Please find below the current coach development opportunities for you to share with your coaching community. CONNECTING COACHES CONFERENCE Registrations are now open for the online Connecting Coaches Conference on the 27th and 28th of November 2020. Otago Academy of Sport will be leading the two-day online conference with a focus on supporting coaches to build their capacity to be adaptable. There will be over 20 guest speakers including Dame Noeline Taurua, Emma Humphries, Jamie Joseph, Heath Mills and many more. The conference is open to everyone, worldwide, at a cost of NZD$99. All presentations will be recorded and available to all registered coaches register for an entire year. Please click here for more information CLICK HERE FOR THE CONNECTING COACHES FLYER TO SHARE NEW SPORT NZ COACHING PROGRAMME: COACHING FOR IMPACT Sport NZ has launched a brand new initiative, Coaching For Impact. This initiative is aimed at coaches working with secondary school age players. There will be posts on the Hockey NZ Facebook page in the coming weeks to remind coaches to apply and a flyer you can download on the link below to assist with sharing this with your coaches. Applications for the programme close on Monday 30th November at 5pm. CLICK HERE FOR THE COACHING FOR IMPACT FLYER TO SHARE iCOACH KIDS FOURTH ANNUAL CONFERENCE The iCoachKids Movement was formed to harness the motivation, interest and momentum for the development of a Global Sport System that provides a safe a developmentally appropriate environment for each and every child. In December iCoachKids will be holding their 4th Annual International Conference. This will be a FREE online event. The conference will include an impressive list of sports leaders from across the world. CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL STORY OPENING ROUNDS OF SENTINEL HOMES PREMIER HOCKEY LEAGUE A SMASHING SUCCESS The first three rounds of the Sentinel Homes Premier Hockey League are in the books in the women’s competition. This Thursday will see the men hit the turf to contest their three rounds. It was awesome to see such a large number of our community watching the streams on the sky sport next platform. Could I please request that we continue to push this through your social media channels throughout the competition as we aim to get our community engaged with this high-level competition. This fund opened on 28 October 2020. Lottery COVID-19 Community Wellbeing Fund will provide one-off grants for community or social initiatives that increase the strength and resilience of communities that are responding to the impacts of COVID-19. This Fund will support hapū, iwi and community organisations that have lost funding or have an increased demand on their services due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and community or social initiatives that strengthen community resilience and respond to the impacts of COVID-19. CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE HALBERG TRUST DIVERSITY & INCLUSION TRAINING The Halberg Trust are responding to an increase of requests from the sporting community around Diversity and Inclusion Training by launching “an Introduction to Inclusion and Adapted Physical Activity Training” free of charge on zoom every Monday at 10am during November. It is a short 1 hour introductory session. This Halberg Inclusion Training programme teaches the core fundamentals of how to modify physical activities. If you are working with a group of people in a sport, recreation or play setting and wondering how you can include all of your group in a more effective way this training is for you. This course can: give you more confidence in working with those with impairments provide ideas when working with disabled people empower you to make changes that will enhance the experience for your group ensure everyone can be included demonstrate how to remove barriers to participation shape positive attitudes provide impetus to reach out to Halberg for more information TO REGISTER FOR A SESSION CLICK HERE Alternatively, if your Association has enough interest as a group collectively, you can organise a stand-alone session.
