HOCKEY NZ-ASSOCIATION NEWS
AN UPDATE FOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATIONS |
Happy Monday! Every second Monday we will send out an association Newsletter that contains key information that Hockey New Zealand needs to communicate with you and your members. This is one of Hockey New Zealand’s main tools which we will be using to communicate important messaging to Associations for their information and action. If we have missed any of your staff from this email then please let us know and we will make sure they are added to our database. |
We need your help during the 2020 FIH Hockey Pro League |
With club hockey starting back up we are asking for you to please communicate with your clubs and encourage them to promote the FIH Hockey Pro League through their channels. This weekend is the last home games for the Vantage Black Sticks Men and Women for 2020 and we want to have a packed out Ngā Puna Wai to help create the atmosphere our teams deserve for what is a crucial 2020 season. We have created discount codes for a number of groups which will hopefully entice more of your community to get down to the games. These codes can be used for the purchase of individual game tickets. Masters Code – MASTERS2020 Club Code – CLUBS2020 Schools Code – SCHOOLS2020 Please also encourage them to use any of the attached digital assets on their social channels to help promote the event, this includes videos, posters etc. Digital Assets |

Community Hockey Leaders Inaugural Catch Up |
Last year Hockey New Zealand launched a collaboration and connection platform via Microsoft Teams, especially for our Community Hockey Leaders. This was part of bringing to life the recommendations from the “How to build a stronger hockey whanau” at the August 2019 Community Hockey Forum. Invites were sent to attendees of the forum to join the platform so that they could begin to create a sharing network. To build on this momentum we kicked off 2020 by having our first video link catch up on Microsoft Teams for this group on the 20th February. This was an opportunity to say hello, get to know MS Teams a little better and was the start of our regular video link catch-ups – something that attendees of the forum strongly advocated for. We were lucky enough to be joined by Bill Wigglesworth from North Harbour Rugby who gave us an overview of the change he is leading through North Harbour Rugby and the impact that is creating as well as the link to the Keep up with the Play campaign. Alysha Jensen from Netball New Zealand also kindly joined the meeting and contributed with her experiences of the MS Teams platform. |

The next online catch up is scheduled for April, prior to the HNZ AGM and Awards dinner. All those who have joined the platform will receive an email inviting them to the meeting once the date has been confirmed. Please feel free to contact Rachel (Rachel.minton-smith@hockeynz.co.nz) with questions you might have or any items for the next agenda. |
