Workshop: Applying Mental Skills in the Sports Coaching Environment Workshop
Date & Time: Monday May 28th 2018, 6-8pm
Venue: Sports House Boardroom, Saxton Field, 142 Saxton Road East, Stoke, Nelson
Cost: $20 -includes tuition, light refreshments
Who Might Attend: This would be useful for sports coaches involved at club and/or representative level sport. Parents of budding athletes may also find this workshop beneficial.
Facilitator Biography: Shane Winterton.
We are delighted to again team up with Shane Winterton, a registered psychologist working for the Ministry of Education who has spent the last 25 years working with young people, their carers and teachers. In addition he has a long history of working with athletes, consulting across a range of sports as diverse as multisport and golf. He is also the mental skills trainer for the Crusaders Tasman (Mako) Academy programme and, in this role, he has worked with players who are currently involved at NPC, NZ age-group, NZ Sevens, Super Rugby and international levels
Workshop Overview: This interactive workshop will explore how sports coaches, regardless of code, can work with athletes to help them to review their performance and to get the most out of the self-review process. It will also explore how coaches can encourage athletes to use mental skills to help them gain that competitive edge and so maximize their performance.
